LOW INCOME BY THE NUMBERS
Who is considered low income?
According to the Pew Research Center, about 30% of U.S. adults live in low-income households. This includes approximately 40% of children and 40% of seniors.
In 2018, a family of four with two adults, two children and a total household income below $50,200 per year was considered low income.
Who is qualifies as low income?
While the definition of who qualifies as low income may vary by state and location due to cost of living differences, the characteristics of what it means to be a low-income household are the same.
